1 oz Vienna Philharmonic Gold Coin 2025 - Münze Österreich, .9999 fine gold

The 1 oz Vienna Philharmonic Gold Coin 2025 (Wiener Philharmoniker) is Europe's flagship gold bullion coin, struck by Münze Österreich (Austrian Mint) - one of the world's oldest mints with tradition dating back to 1194. The coin contains exactly one troy ounce of pure .9999/1000 gold (31.1035 g), has a face value of 100 Euro and is legal tender in the Republic of Austria. Introduced in 1989, it is the only gold bullion coin awarded "world's best-selling" multiple times (1992, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2002).

At GoldInvest24 authorised Austrian Mint coins in protective capsules.

Münze Österreich - 800 years of Austrian minting tradition

Münze Österreich AG roots date to 1194, when Duke Leopold V founded a mint in Vienna, financed from the 12-tonne ransom paid by the English for King Richard the Lionheart's release. This historical link - Vienna gold from English ransom - makes Münze Österreich one of Europe's oldest continuously active mints.

Vienna Philharmonic was introduced October 10, 1989 as response to American Eagle and Canadian Maple Leaf. Original face value: 2,000 Austrian Schillings; after Euro introduction 2002 changed to 100 Euro. LBMA Good Delivery accredited.

Market analysis - Eurozone leader

Vienna Philharmonics are the best-selling gold bullion coin in the Eurozone. Annual sales 200,000-500,000 1 oz pieces, dominated by Germany, Austria, Poland, Czech Republic, Netherlands and Spain. Unique advantage for European investors - Euro denomination (100 EUR), eliminating face-value currency risk vs. USD, GBP, CAD or ZAR.

Vienna Philharmonics are the record-setting sales coin. Multiple times awarded world's best-selling gold bullion coin (1992, 1995, 1996, 2000, 2002 - World Gold Council reports). During 2008 financial crisis, Münze Österreich had to expand production to meet demand.

Distinguishing feature among "Big Four": largest coin diameter (37 mm vs. 32-33 mm for Eagle, Maple Leaf, Krugerrand). Compensated by smaller thickness (2 mm), giving unique "flat shield" profile.

Obverse - Vienna Musikverein organ

Obverse depicts the organ of the Great Hall (Großer Saal) at Musikverein in Vienna, one of the world's most famous concert halls, home of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Hall opened January 6, 1870; Rieger Orgelbau organ installed 1907. Annual New Year Concert broadcast worldwide. Inscriptions: REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH · 1 UNZE GOLD · 999,9 · 100 EURO · 2025.

Reverse - Philharmonic instruments

Reverse displays eight instruments of the Vienna Philharmonic: Vienna harp (central), two Vienna horns, double bass, bassoon, two violins and viola. Designed by Thomas Pesendorfer in 1989, unchanged for 36 years. Vienna Philharmonic - orchestra founded 1842 by Otto Nicolai. Inscription: WIENER PHILHARMONIKER.
