Who a 5 g bar is for
Five grams of silver is a small bar in a card, easy to store and to give. People choose it as a small gift, as a first purchase of physical silver, or to hold metal in portions that are easy to sell one at a time.
The smallest size has a cost: minting, the card and handling are spread over only 5 g of metal, so the premium per gram is the highest in the whole Nadir range. If the price per gram matters most, look at sizes from 100 g upwards.
Card, markings and two packaging versions
The obverse carries the round Nadir Metal Rafineri logo with the NMR monogram, the weight and the fineness; the reverse has a pattern of large letters from the refinery name. The card bears the Assayer Nadir mark, a QR code and a barcode, and the producer notes that the certificate values apply only to an unopened package.
The photos show the older card marked 999 Fine Silver with a 999.0 bar and the newer one marked Fineness 999.9, the fineness the supplier also quotes. The version delivered depends on the batch.
Producer: Nadir Metal Rafineri
Nadir Metal Rafineri traces its roots to a precious metals recovery workshop set up in Istanbul in 1967; the current company dates from 1993. The refinery has been LBMA Good Delivery accredited for gold since 2011 and for silver since 2012. All bars from this producer: Nadir Metal Rafineri.
What to consider
Silver carries 23% VAT, so at 5 g the gap between the purchase price and the metal value is wide. The current price is on the silver price page. Keep the card sealed — an opened bar may need checking when you sell it.
